It’s Open Season On RINOs

November 3, 2010 marks the opening of RINO Season. Like many TeaParty conservatives, I went to the polls yesterday and forced myself to color in the bubble for candidates, who in the past, may have (actually did) vote or behave in a way that I found objectionable to the sustained well-being of the republic. Some of us feel that there were candidates who were forced upon us by the GOP, good-ol-boy political machine during the primary season when the Republican powers knew we wanted a return to true statesman-like leadership, and conservative values which were better represented in TeaParty candidates. While I may have also voted a straight Republican ticket, in hopes of stopping the Obama freight train of socialism, this was the last time. It was the last time I will support candidates whom I know have voted for things like TARP and local tax increases under guise of “It’s for the children” or “I made a decision based on the information I had at the time.” The people have spoken and it is abundantly clear what we expect from our elected leadership. We also know that conservative leaders know the difference between true conservative values and “what is the best information at the time.” The people have spoken. We are better educated about the issues, and the Constitution. We want results, and we want you to keep your promises. No more excuses! November 3rd is opening day for RINOs.

I have heard Phyllis Schlafly remind us that, “Jesus Christ is not on the ballot,” to justify the human shortcomings and inconsistency of past Republican actions. If it takes Jesus Christ to differentiate between right and wrong in the legislature, we have bigger problems than worrying about a socialist takeover of our government. Suggesting that we should continue to forgive mistakes by the leadership will only continue to perpetuate the current power structure’s lack of accountability. For far too long we have forgiven or looked the other way when leadership has not acted on the will, or best interests, of the people who put them in office, and we are in a hell of a mess now because of it.

Another point to consider, while there is much Monday morning quarterbacking and discussion of third party influences in the successes or failures in various races, is that the responsibility of the development, or not, of a future third party now rests solely with the Republican party. TeaParty and Independents will be following any RINO hunting expeditions with new and institutionally untainted candidates because they are fed up with the corruption of the established 2 party system. Republican conduct, in the next two years, will determine whether or not they need to fear the organization and support of the dreaded third party.

The ballots were not even cast and I had already begun to hear shuffling and dancing from Republican candidates about the tough road ahead and the obstacles the White House will absolutely throw in their path when they take office in January. Let there be no mistake. We fully expect each and every one of our elected representatives to do everything humanly and legally possible to undo the damage done by the present administration on both the national and local levels. We don’t care if it is stopped in one house or another, or vetoed at the executive level. We want you to draft, repeal, and push the agenda through. If they stop it, we will clear the way for you to put it through again in 2012. Draft it and have it ready, because we will be watching and making decisions based on how you follow through on your campaign pledges. We have proven that the giant sleeps no more and we can move any mountains that stand between us and the freedoms granted to us by our fore-bearers, whether the mountain is the present administration, or the RINOs who hold the various elected offices.
